Emerging Visual Artists Take Center Stage Columbia, SC — On Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 6–8 PM at The Frame Shop, located at 3100 Rosewood Drive in Columbia, South Carolina.
The community is invited to experience Timeless Art, Lasting Impressions, a vibrant exhibition showcasing advanced painting works in acrylics by students presenting their work to the public for the very first time. This special evening highlights a new generation of emerging artists whose diverse styles, bold experimentation, and personal visual languages reflect months — and in some cases years — of dedicated artistic growth.
The exhibition features an exciting range of mediums and approaches, from expressive abstraction and layered mixed media to refined realism, conceptual storytelling, and innovative textural techniques. Each artist brings a distinct perspective, offering visitors a rich, multifaceted experience that celebrates individuality and the power of creative exploration.
This exhibition features the works of: Candace Catoe, Rachel Durr, Katie Free, Rebecca Janzen, TJ Kimel, Amy Leonardi, Margaret Sellers, T. Przekop Smith and Dawne Whitley. “These students have been painting in earnest at City Art in Columbia and this show is full of fresh perspectives and bold experimentation,” says curator and visual arts educator Alicia Leeke. Adding, “These artists have pushed themselves to develop authentic voices and advanced skills. Their work carries both confidence and curiosity — a combination that makes for unforgettable first impressions.”
Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their processes, and purchase original works and arrange commissions. Light refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend.
